10 things that a girl needs on her trek – Beginner’s Guide to Trekking

Trekking is one of the most rewarding experiences; however, as all things good, even trekking has its own share of struggles that test your physical endurance and guts. Some problems are expected and manageable, but it is always wise to be prepared properly!

A lot of articles are already up on the Internet that will tell you what to carry on your trek- however, only a couple of them are written keeping women travellers in mind.

I am not going to list some of the very obvious things you need on your treks like good shoes and walking sticks- but only those things that I believe are often overlooked and are very important for women travelers. Some of these items are gender neutral, and are also a matter of personal preference for me, but I have tried to list down things that have been very useful when the situation came up!

Virupaksha Temple, situated on the banks of Tungabhadra River, in the centre of Hampi, is the main tourist attraction in Hampi. It is part of the group of monuments at Hampi, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This principal & oldest functioning temple (since 7th century AD) in Hampi is sought after by both tourists and pilgrims alike.  The yearly chariot festival held in the month of February attracts tourists from all over the world. What traveling taught us in 2017

Another year comes to an end, and while the year hasn’t been all rainbows and sunshine, it is fair for us to count our blessings. I, for one, am married happily to the most beautiful girl I ever set my eyes upon, our family and friends are in good health & the heart is still young and passionate. We got a chance to travel to some of the most amazing places this year- Maldives, Sri Lanka, Hampi & Goa, among others; and each of these taught us valuable life lessons.

While we have not always been a fan of New Year resolutions and found them a social obligation in my younger years, retrospection over the last week made us take one this year- to travel more (and more!) in 2018 and the years to come.

We learnt that no matter where you are, far away from your family and friends, there is always kindness waiting around the corner.

With the market (read: social media) flooded with new year resolutions this time of the year, we would make it a point to sell our resolution to you, and make it worthwhile for you to spare 2 minutes and read on.

8 Things female solo travelers MUST know!

A quick search on the Internet and you will have a million reasons as to why traveling solo is one of the best experiences you will ever have in your life. The first time I went for a solo trip, it was just because all my close friends were busy and I didn’t want to just go with anyone- so I ended up going alone. It was so much fun that now whenever I get a chance I travel on my own. It is empowering, and exciting and sometimes a tad bit lonely- but the kind of lonely that you would like- the kind of lonely where you meet yourself- your dreams and hidden demons, and in the end, it is all worth it 🙂

Having said that, there is always some level of uncertainty involved when you are going to a completely unknown place, and it is wise to take some precautions.
